MBBS in Uzbekistan — Complete Step by Step Admission Guide for Pakistani Students (2026)

📅 Last updated: September 2026

Of all the MBBS destinations available to Pakistani students, Uzbekistan has the most streamlined admission process. No entrance exam, no IELTS, direct university applications, admission letters issued within 7–10 working days, and one clear annual intake in September. For Pakistani pre-medical students who meet the eligibility requirements, Uzbekistan removes more obstacles between FSc results and an MBBS seat than any other destination.

This guide walks through every step of the process in sequence — from confirming your eligibility to landing in Tashkent — with real timelines, real document requirements, and the specific details that Pakistani students need, not the generic information written for Indian students that dominates most search results on this topic.

Before Anything Else — Confirm These Two Things

Before shortlisting universities or filling any application form, two personal eligibility requirements must be confirmed. If either is not met, the MBBS pathway in Uzbekistan does not lead to PMDC registration — and the entire investment of time and money produces a degree you cannot use to practice in Pakistan.

Requirement 1 — FSc Pre-Medical minimum 60%
Your FSc Pre-Medical aggregate must be at least 60%. This is PMDC’s minimum threshold for foreign medical graduates to be eligible for registration. Check your marks certificate now. If you are below 60%, discuss your options with us before applying anywhere.

Requirement 2 — MDCAT minimum 50%
MDCAT is not required for university admission in Uzbekistan — but it is required for PMDC registration after you graduate. A student who completes 6 years of MBBS in Uzbekistan and returns to Pakistan without a qualifying MDCAT score cannot register with PMDC regardless of which university they attended.

Sit MDCAT before or during the early stages of your application process. Do not defer this to later. Our complete PMDC recognition guide for Uzbekistan covers this in full detail.

Step 1 — Shortlist and Verify Your University (6–8 Months Before Intake)

The most important decision in the entire process is choosing a WDOMS-listed, PMDC-eligible university — not the cheapest one, not the one a friend went to, and not the one a consultant recommends without showing you the verification.

Universities with established WDOMS listing for Pakistani students:

  • Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) — established 1935, WHO and WFME recognized
  • Samarkand State Medical University — established 1930, oldest medical university in Central Asia, WDOMS-listed
  • Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU) — WHO recognized, WDOMS-listed
  • Bukhara State Medical Institute — WDOMS-listed

Verify before you apply — not after:

  1. Go to wdoms.org
  2. Search for your target university by name
  3. Confirm it appears with a current, active listing
  4. Take a screenshot and save it

Do this yourself. Do not rely on any consultant or the university’s own marketing materials to confirm recognition status. Status can change. Our team does this verification for every student we work with before submitting a single document.

⚠️ Important — April 2026 Update: India’s National Medical Commission (NMC) issued an advisory on April 1, 2026 raising concerns about three specific Uzbekistan medical universities: Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU), Samarkand State Medical University, and Bukhara State Medical Institute — citing overcapacity and clinical training quality issues. While this is India’s NMC, not Pakistan’s PMDC, the operational concerns are relevant to Pakistani students. We currently recommend Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) as the most consistently reliable option for Pakistani MBBS students in Uzbekistan. Contact our team to discuss current university selection before applying.

Step 2 — Prepare Your Documents (5–6 Months Before Intake)

Document preparation runs parallel with university shortlisting and is the most time-consuming part of the process. The attestation chain takes 4–8 weeks minimum. Start immediately — not after you receive your offer letter.

The attestation sequence — complete in this exact order:

A — Board verification (before IBCC)
Get your Matric and FSc certificates verified by your issuing board (BISE Lahore, FBISE, BISE Karachi, etc.) before approaching IBCC. This is a mandatory pre-step that many Pakistani students skip and then have to redo the entire submission.

B — IBCC attestation
Submit Matric (SSC) and FSc/Intermediate (HSSC) certificates to IBCC after board verification. Processing time 7–10 working days.

C — MOFA attestation
Submit all IBCC-attested documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Processing time 1–5 working days.

D — Uzbekistan Embassy attestation (Islamabad)
After MOFA, submit your attested documents to the Uzbekistan Embassy in Islamabad for the final attestation required specifically for Uzbek university submissions.

For the complete attestation process with fees and exact steps, read our HEC, IBCC and MOFA attestation guide.

Complete document checklist for Uzbekistan MBBS application:

  • Matric certificate and mark sheet — IBCC and MOFA attested
  • FSc Pre-Medical certificate and mark sheet — IBCC and MOFA attested
  • Passport copy — all pages including blank pages
  • NADRA identity card (CNIC) copy
  • 12–15 recent passport-size photographs (more than you think you need — have extras)
  • Medical fitness certificate from an approved facility
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Birth certificate

One critical technical requirement: All documents must be scanned using a proper flatbed scanner — not a mobile phone camera app. Uzbek universities and embassies specifically reject mobile-scanned documents because of quality and clarity issues. If you don’t have access to a scanner, most printing/document shops in any Pakistani city offer scanning services for a few rupees per page.

Step 3 — Submit Your University Application (4–5 Months Before Intake)

With documents prepared and your target university verified, you’re ready to apply.

How to apply:
Most Uzbek medical universities accept direct online applications through their official university portal. Some require applications through authorized representatives. Contact your target university’s international admissions office directly to confirm the current submission method.

Application form requirements:

  • Complete the online application form accurately — name must match your passport exactly, date of birth must match all documents
  • Upload scanned copies of all required documents (scanner quality — not mobile photos)
  • Submit your passport-size photograph in the required digital format

Processing time:
Uzbekistan universities issue the admission letter within 7–10 working days of receiving a complete, correctly submitted application. This is one of the fastest turnaround times of any study abroad destination — significantly faster than Russia (30–45 days for Ministry invitation letter) or Malaysia (3–6 weeks for EMGS eVAL).

Step 4 — Receive Your Admission Letter and Pay Visa Invitation Fee

Within 7–10 working days of submitting your complete application, the university issues an official admission/offer letter confirming your place in the MBBS program.

After receiving your admission letter:

  • Read every condition carefully before paying any fees
  • Confirm the university name matches exactly what you verified on WDOMS
  • Confirm the program is General Medicine (MD) in English medium
  • Pay the Visa Invitation Letter fee — approximately $300 — to the university. This fee initiates the process of obtaining your official Visa Invitation Letter from Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry

Step 5 — Visa Invitation Letter Processing (40–60 Days)

After you pay the Visa Invitation Letter fee, the university applies to Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry on your behalf for your official invitation document. This is the document that allows you to apply for a student visa at the Uzbekistan Embassy in Islamabad.

Timeline: The visa invitation letter from Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry takes 30–40 days normally, though it can take longer depending on processing volume. This is the longest single step in the entire process — plan around it accordingly.

During this waiting period:

  • Complete any remaining document attestation steps
  • Arrange your health insurance
  • Confirm your hostel booking with the university
  • Keep your passport valid and accessible

Step 6 — Apply for Student Visa at Uzbekistan Embassy, Islamabad

Once your visa invitation letter arrives, you can book your appointment at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad and submit your student visa application.

Documents required for visa appointment:

  • Valid Pakistani passport (minimum 6 months validity beyond your intended return date)
  • Original visa invitation letter from Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry
  • University admission letter
  • All IBCC, MOFA, and Embassy-attested academic documents
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Police clearance certificate
  • 12 passport-size photographs
  • Completed visa application form

Visa processing time: The student visa is typically processed within 1–2 weeks of submitting a complete application. Combined with the invitation letter wait time, total visa processing from paying the $300 fee to receiving your visa stamp is typically 6–8 weeks.

Step 7 — Pre-Departure Preparation

With visa in hand, you’re ready to travel. Before you fly:

Confirm with your university:

  • Hostel booking confirmation in writing
  • Arrival procedure — who to contact at Tashkent airport, how to reach campus
  • Orientation week schedule
  • Registration deadlines — you must complete university registration within a specific window after arrival

Carry in hand luggage (not checked baggage):

  • Original passport with valid visa
  • All original attested academic documents
  • Certified copies of all documents (separate from originals — keep in different bag)
  • University admission letter and hostel confirmation
  • Foreign currency cash for first two weeks (minimum $400–$500)
  • Health insurance certificate

Packing essentials for Tashkent:

  • Winter clothing — Tashkent winters reach -10°C to -15°C in January/February. A quality winter coat, thermal layers, and warm boots are non-negotiable
  • Pakistani spices and cooking basics for your first month
  • Prayer mat and compass
  • Type C/F plug adapters (different from Pakistan’s plugs)
  • Multiple passport photographs (keep 20 spare — you will need them for hostel registration, residence permit, and university administrative processes)

Step 8 — Arrival and Registration in Tashkent

Within your first days of arriving in Tashkent:

  • Report to your university’s international student office immediately — within 3 working days of arrival
  • Complete hostel check-in and collect your room key and student ID
  • Register your arrival with local authorities — your university handles this process, but you must not delay it
  • Attend the mandatory orientation week — all administrative registration processes are handled during this period

September 2026 Intake — Is It Too Late?

The September 2026 intake is currently open or closing — at the time of publishing, some universities may still have seats available. After Graduation — Returning to Practice in Pakistan

Completing your MBBS in Uzbekistan is the beginning, not the end. To practice medicine in Pakistan after graduating from a Uzbek medical university:

  1. HEC attestation of your foreign degree — through the new fully online 2026 portal at hec.gov.pk. Full guide: HEC, IBCC and MOFA attestation for Pakistani students
  2. MOFA attestation of your attested degree
  3. PMDC foreign graduate registration — submit degree, transcripts, MDCAT results, and FSc certificate to PMDC
  4. PMDC licensing examination — mandatory for all foreign medical graduates before a practicing license is issued
  5. Mandatory house job — one year at a PMDC-recognized teaching hospital after licensing

This pathway is fully functional and regularly used by Pakistani graduates from Uzbekistan. Start preparing for the PMDC licensing exam from your second or third year — not from the final year.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does MBBS take in Uzbekistan?

The MBBS program in Uzbekistan is 6 years in total — 5 years of academic study followed by a 1-year clinical internship. Instruction is in English medium with basic Uzbek and Russian language classes included for clinical rotation communication.

Is IELTS required for MBBS in Uzbekistan?

No — IELTS is not required for university admission in Uzbekistan. English medium tracks are available without any language proficiency test. A Medium of Instruction certificate from your Pakistani school or college may be requested by some universities as confirmation of English language background.

When is the Uzbekistan MBBS intake for Pakistani students?

Uzbekistan medical universities accept Pakistani students once per year only — for the September intake. There is no February or January intake for MBBS programs. Missing the September intake means waiting a full year. Plan your document attestation and application timeline accordingly.

How much does the visa invitation letter cost?

The visa invitation letter fee is approximately $300, payable to the university after you receive your admission letter. This initiates the Foreign Ministry process which takes 30–40 days.

Can I apply directly to a Uzbek university without a consultant?

Yes — online applications are open directly through university portals. However, document errors, incorrect attestation sequences, and late submissions are the primary reasons Pakistani students miss their target intake or have visa applications rejected. A consultant who knows the specific requirements of each university and the current embassy processing conditions reduces this risk significantly.
